((Bridal Makeup)) The Big Day

The BIG Day!

I was excited for the big wedding today for my bride! Today we were doing bridal makeup for the STAR plus her bridesmaids.

The consultation was done a month ago; I strong recommend consultation 1-2 months prior so we can chat and get to know each other better. For bride-to-be’s – it’s always good to send a photo of your dress to the makeup artist so we can coordinate different makeup styles fitting to your dress! (Over-prepared is definitely better than under-prepared!)

Because of the time-constraint, my friend and I worked together to finish everyone.

My first bridesmaid is Miss T.

She has lovely blue eyes that’s as crisp and clear as the sky! It’s nice blue that’s nicely complimented with beige/golden toned eye shadows. For most of the time, she usually uses light foundation and minimal colours on her face.

I picked neutral and earthy eye colours so it doesn’t take away the beauty of her eyes. The layering only brings out the depth of her contour. She has fair complexion but easily spotted because of lighter skin tone. I used Kat Von D Lock-it Tattoo concealor for freckle coverage. Then applied a layer of Make Up Forever Face & Body Foundation to create a natural sheen. She has normal skin type that’s well-balance so neither oily or dry (my dream skin type!) she does feel oily in summer times but that’s easily taken care of by an oil-controlling primer.

I customized her lip colour to suit her skin tone and eyes. It is a mixture of pastel orange with a dash of cool pink. She enjoyed the makeup and loved the finish- yay!!

While my friend worked on another lady, I was looking after the bride’s aunt. She brought her own makeup tools and products; I was waiting for another bridesmaid to arrive so I had extra time on my hands- I offered to do the aunt’s makeup.

Her favourite is the UD Naked 3 – which was introduced in the previous blog post. Rose gold is complimentary to her hair and eye colour. Her eyes are blue with a tint of green which was enhanced by the rose gold shadow colour. She does not use eye liner as she has sensitive eyes. Instead of using a separate liner, I use the darkest brown on Naked 3 palette to serve as the eyeliner.

Then I blended the eyeliner colour upward from the lashline to create a mini-smokey eye effect.

She brought her own lip colour and wanted to do her own lips so I had the chance to help other ladies.

The bride came last after everyone. We were doing her makeup while the hairstylist was working on her hair. She just newly dyed her hair a fiery red which was different than the colour at the time of the consultation, so I suggested another colour for her lips to brighten up her complexion.

The actual colour used was more tender than the one used at consultation (the original was a deeper coral-red) because of the new hair colour, the pinky-coral colour becomes more suiting and complimentary.

My personal philosophy: A makeup artist’s flexibility and versatility are keys to perfection.

My friend finished the eye makeup while I did the base and selected the colour for her lips. After 45 minutes she was done! Her smile melted my heart instantly. She’s the most beautiful person ever! She was extremely friendly and easy-going.

I am still waiting for more pictures (the ones in this post were taken in a haste LOL) so I will keep you guys posted.

((Makeup)) UB Naked 3 ~ the Natural Rose Gold Sheen Finish

The famous Naked Palette from Urban Behaviour. It’s so well-known that it’s hard to find anyone who hasn’t heard of it. To be honest, this is my very first UB Baked Palette. I was hesitating between Naked 2 and Naked 3. Naked 1 has a wider range of colours and is very suitable for beginners who wants to have some nude colours mixed with some smokey colours. Naked 2 is mostly metallic mixed with beige and yellow-tone colours- I personally think Naked 2 is very suitable for summer and bright weathers. The reason I chose Naked 3 is the golden rose sheen. I had been crazy with the Jill Stuart Rose Gold watch for a while so I was automatically attracted to the rosey warm hues.

The Naked 3 Palette is a warmer palette and may appear messy or unpure on Asian skin tone; occasionally I do find Naked 3 a challenge to use.

The only resolution is keep on practicing until you have reached perfection = =+

The above makeup was made up of first 3 colours of the palette. I use Strange as the base color – apply it from the lash line up to the brow bone.

This is the wash of colour to even out the skin tone of your eyelids.

Use Dust at the opening of the eye corner as the highlight to brighten up your eyes (a mini-lift and brightening effect)

Next, use Burnout at the corner of the eye as a darker colour for eye contouring to create depth of your eyes.

Finally, use Darkside as your eyeliner. Find any of the slanted eyeliner brushes you may have, press it into the eyeshadow with light pressure for it to absorb enough colour. Gently apply a thin liner on the lash line of your eyes.

Using eyeshadow instead of an actual eyeliner liquid or gel creates a soft line that is easily blendable. The line will not seem very harsh or very divided from the rest of your eyeshawdow colours.

After applying mascara, then you are done! Isn’t eyeshadow application easy?

It’s natural and has a very subtle sheen that is hard to detect for others- that is the beauty makeup I go for- the subtle presence that is undetectable yet you receive compliments like “WOW“. Beauty makeup has to be one with you. It’s the makeup that needs to compliment the person, not the person complimenting the makeup and transform his/herself into someone else. Enhancing your self-identity with beauty makeup is the perfect I long for.

I hope you can all find your everyday-look in UB Naked 3. It’s a very versatile nude palette but does require some practices for Asian skin tones to appear bright and natural 🙂
