((Makeup)) July Splurge & Fav’s

As July has ended I think it’s time to share with you the products that captured my heart this past month. What was the love of July?

Let’s start with the face, shall we?

Before base makeup, I always cleanse the face with Bioderma Sensibio H2O. Over the years, I’ve changed to different kinds of toners but I always come back to this one (always!) It’s been there for my rosacea, and it’s been there for my flaky and dehydrated skin in seasons of change. Wherever I go, I always bring a bottle of Bioderma. It’s also the starter product I use on my bridal clients- it’s refreshing, soothing and calming especially for this summer heat wave right now.

After toning, yours face should be telling you “hey, I am ready for some moisture!” This should be my 5th tube of Bioderma Sensibio AR. I have used and re-purchased so many times that I have lost count (a test of memory!)

Because of my combination-dry skin, I choose the light version of the cream. It’s a gel-cream texture that’s instantly absorbed by my skin without greasy residue.

Primer. A good primer finishes half of the base work for you (no kidding). Smashbox Primer (hydrating) is my no.1 favorite. I am acne-prone but so far it’s not caused me any break-outs or skin issues (knock on wood lol).

In days when my blemishes get a little worse, I would add a layer of Makeup Forever Primer (blue & green) to ease out the pigmentation.

I think we are ready for foundation!

Choice of the month was Hourglass Seamless Vanish Foundation stick. It’s smooth like butter. Just draw a few lines on your face and buff it out with a foundation brush. Hourglass has a new foundation brush made for this product as well. I haven’t tried the newest brush yet but I think other tools I have work just as well 😀

If you enjoy contouring, think about adding a couple other darker colors to your foundation line up. It’s compact and mobile for traveling, just in time for summer!

I enjoy Makeup Forever setting spray. I always bring the full size one with me for weight training purpose

It’s a great choice to avoid the cakey matte look, since dewy and fresh glow is in-style right now.

Another choice is Urban Decay All-Nighter setting spray, which all my brides seem to enjoy 😀

For adding a little color to the lips. Sephora Cream Lip Stain #13 (marvelous mauve) is great for the matte & sheer look. It’s not glossy or overly shiny but it provides just the right moisturized look to the lips.

These are my favorites of July. What are yours?
