2015 has flown by in a blink of an eye. It is time to recognize the most trust-worthy cosmetic products of the year. In my opinion, the best makeup items are the staple ones that you always carry in the portable cosmetic pouch. They follow you wherever you go; whatever the occasions (battles) they will always triumph and win you the victory of self-confidence and beauty.
Let’s get started!
Prior to applying foundation products, you should always start with a Primer. Depending on your needs, some may opt for a pore-concealing primer or a color-correcting one. Primer is to prep your complexion so that you will not require as much or as heavy a foundation afterward; therefore, choosing a good or suitable primer can help save you time and precious money on foundation expense.
Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer
I bought the travel-size and I have truly fallen in love with it. The primer is easy to go on and conceals the porous and uneven tones of my skin. Without the primer I need to use a dime-size foundation but with the Primer, only a pea-size portion will suffice. It’s saved me from wasting foundation products.
It also caters to my sensitive and acne-prone skin. After using it for almost 5-6 months, I have yet to experience any discomfort or the horror of breakout.
Foundation: Lancome Teint Miracle & Becca Ultimate Coverage Complexion Creme
Lancome Teint Miralce has rocked the makeup world ever since its introduction. The makeup finish is sheer while providing a mild-medium buildable coverage. The foundation is fitting for all seasons. The lit-from-within glow provides a natural look to your skin, hiding the imperfections without looking cakey or overly made-up.
Becca Ultimate Coverage, like its name, provides medium to high concealing effect for our complexion. The finish is semi-matte with a “buttery” feel. The skin is still dewy with a mild “glowing” finish. One a bad day (or after a sleepless night) this is my base of choice.
After applying foundation liquid/cream, it is time to set our makeup! I realized that many girls do skip this step; however, please do note that this is crucial to the longevity of your makeup finish.
Shu Uemura Lightbulb Glowing Face Powder
I use to shy away from loose powder because most traditional powders tend cover up the glowy/dewy finish of the foundation. However, Shu Uemura Lightbulb Glowing Face Powder begs to differ. The powder is made with fine pearlescent so the powder provides a sheen fascinating veil on your face. Your skin still glows from within looking fresh and renewed.
Blushes: Three & RMK
Both are Japan-only cosmetic brands. I hope that one day they will open shop in Vancouver as well (lol). As I am a pink-blush fanatic, the two blushes belong to the pink nation, haha.
RMK is a shimmering pink with a tint of pure innocence. The shimmer does not accentuate your pores so you can brush it generously without worry.
Three, on the other hand, is a matte pink blush. The matte color is natural on the face. It is simple and easy to use for beginners. You can wear this to any occasion. It does not take away from your eye/lip makeup but adds to your self radiance. The two brands are worthy a try if you haven’t already 🙂
Another love blush of my cosmetic pouch is Shiseido Maquillage Dramatic Mood Veil
The shimmering brick comes with 5 blush colors- highlight, coral, baby pink, rose pink, cool pink. One palette serves your highlight and blush needs which can help save your room in the makeup pouch. The brush is made of horse hair on one end and a sponge on the other. The spongy tip is use for highlight so you can target the areas more accurately.
You can use each color individually or mix all 5 together. Either way, the blush is beautiful ❤
For concealing, I choose Cle de Peau. I bought this 2 years ago and still have almost a whole stick waiting for me, lol. It is expensive but it can last you a whole generation. While my sister’s concealor is almost gone, mine is still 90% full with everyday after 2 years.
I use Cle de Peau under my eyes to hide the dark circles or around the corners of my mouth for pigmentation. It is non-drying and will not accentuate the dehydration lines around the eyes. It’s small and light to bring anywhere. One stick saves you from buying another conceal for 1-2 years, and that is a very worthy investment lol.
Cle de Peau Mascara.
Ah, where do I begin. After buying this, I have not thought about any other mascara for a long time. It’s almost diminished my desires for another mascara, I should say. I rarely buy new mascaras now because this satisfies all my needs and exceeds my expectation.
It provides for bot a lengthening and voluminous effect. It also helps to retain the curl of your lashes without tangling up the soft lash hairs. It’s waterproof and smudge proof. Your eyes may be worn after bawling but the mascara still stand strong.
Eyeliners. The top one (brown) is a Korean brand Eyescream; the bottom is Maybelline but the particular type is only sold in Asia. Maybelline Ultra-fine has a tip of 0.01mm giving you the ease to draw any lines with the most precision. I love the two. They are my eyeliner soldiers in the cosmetic army lol.
I hope you had fun reading my little post about 2015. Come share with me the items you think are the best- I would love to give them a try!
